Chicken and Broccoli Burgers

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 1 cup fresh broccoli florets, finely chopped or pulsed to rice-like texture
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or almond flour/gluten-free crumbs for gluten-free option)
  • 1 large egg
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Prepare the broccoli: Finely chop or pulse the fresh broccoli florets in a food processor until they resemble a rice-like texture. Squeeze out any excess moisture to prevent soggy patties.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, chopped broccoli, grated Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Gently mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated without overworking the mixture.
  3. Shape the patties: Divide the mixture into equal portions and carefully shape each into firm, slightly thick patties to help them stay juicy during cooking.
  4. Cook the burgers: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat until hot. Add the patties and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through with an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Serve and enjoy: Place the cooked Chicken and Broccoli Burgers on toasted buns, leafy greens, or pita pockets. Add your favorite toppings and sauces, such as tomato slices, lettuce, pickles, avocado, or tzatziki sauce, and enjoy your meal.

Notes

  • Don’t overmix ingredients to keep burgers tender and avoid dense texture.
  • Drain excess moisture from broccoli after chopping to prevent soggy patties.
  • Preheat the pan to achieve a crispy, golden crust on the burgers.
  • Use fresh ground chicken for best texture and flavor instead of frozen.
  • Test cook a small patty to adjust seasoning before cooking the whole batch.
