Perfect for quick weeknight meals or casual dinners, this recipe offers a creamy texture and savory flavor that appeals to families and picky eaters alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein & Pasta

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz bowtie pasta

Cheese Sauce

  • 8 oz Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 1 cup milk or cream
  • 2 tbsp butter

Aromatics & Seasonings

  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: paprika, chili flakes (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Brown the Beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add ground beef. Cook until fully browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon. Drain excess fat to prevent greasiness.
  2. Sauté Onions and Garlic: In the same pan, add butter and sauté chopped onions until translucent. Add minced garlic and cook briefly to release aroma and flavor.
  3. Cook the Pasta: Boil a pot of salted water. Cook bowtie pasta until al dente according to package instructions. Drain pasta, reserving a small amount of pasta water for later.
  4. Make the Cheese Sauce: Reduce heat to low, add cubed Velveeta and milk to the pan with onions and garlic. Stir gently until cheese melts into a smooth sauce. Season with salt, pepper, and optional spices.
  5. Combine Everything: Add cooked pasta and browned beef into the cheese sauce. Toss gently to coat evenly. If sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a tablespoon at a time to reach desired consistency.
  6. Serve Hot and Enjoy: Transfer the creamy beef and pasta mixture into bowls and serve immediately while warm and melty.

Notes

  • Use medium heat when melting Velveeta to avoid gritty texture and ensure a silky sauce.
  • Do not overcook pasta; al dente texture works best with the creamy sauce.
  • Reserve pasta water to loosen the sauce without diluting flavor.
  • Properly drain beef fat to keep the dish rich but not oily.
  • Mix Velveeta with sharper cheeses like cheddar for added flavor complexity without losing creaminess.
