Packed with smoky, cheesy, and spicy flavors customizable to your taste, they are perfect for guilt-free snacking, portable on-the-go treats, and kid-friendly enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 6 corn tortillas
  • 12 tablespoons olive oil or avocado oil

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons nutritional yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon lime juice (optional)

Optional Variations

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes (for spicy kick)
  • 2 tablespoons finely grated Parmesan or vegan cheese powder (for cheddar style)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or thyme (for herb-infused)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried dill and chives (for vegan ranch)
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar or maple syrup (for sweet and smoky)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tortillas: Cut corn tortillas into uniform triangle shapes using a sharp knife or pizza cutter to ensure even cooking.
  2. Toss with Oil and Seasonings: Place tortilla triangles in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive or avocado oil and toss until each piece is lightly coated. Sprinkle the seasoning blend evenly over the chips and toss again to coat thoroughly.
  3. Bake or Air-Fry: Arrange the seasoned chips in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in your air fryer basket. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 12-15 minutes or air-fry at 325°F (160°C) for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through to achieve golden crispness.
  4. Add a Fresh Finish: Once out of the oven or air fryer, optionally squeeze fresh lime juice over the chips for a bright, refreshing contrast to the smoky spices.

Notes

  • Don’t overcrowd: Keep chips in a single layer when baking or air-frying for maximum crunch.
  • Use fresh spices: Replace old spice powders regularly to amplify flavor.
  • Cut evenly: Uniform chip sizes prevent uneven cooking or burning.
  • Season while warm: Toss chips with seasonings right out of the oven for better adherence.
  • Experiment with oils: Avocado oil adds a subtle flavor and has a high smoke point ideal for crispness.
  • Store in airtight containers: Keep chips fresh and crisp by sealing properly after cooling.
