Ingredients

Scale

Tea Base

  • 23 Green Tea Bags (high-quality for smooth, earthy notes)
  • 4 cups Filtered Water

Flavorings

  • Juice of 2 Fresh Lemons (about 1/4 cup fresh-squeezed)
  • 1012 Fresh Mint Leaves (lightly bruised)

Sweetener

  • 12 teaspoons Honey or Natural Sweetener of Choice (adjust to taste)

For Serving

  • Ice Cubes (as needed to chill)
  • Extra Mint Sprigs and Lemon Slices for Garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brew the Green Tea: Steep 2 to 3 green tea bags in 4 cups of hot filtered water for 3 to 5 minutes depending on your preferred tea strength. Avoid over-steeping to keep the flavor smooth and non-bitter.
  2. Prepare the Lemon Juice and Mint: While the tea steeps, squeeze fresh lemons to extract about 1/4 cup of juice. Lightly bruise 10 to 12 fresh mint leaves by gently pressing them to release their flavorful oils and aroma.
  3. Sweeten the Tea: Remove the tea bags and stir in 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey or your chosen natural sweetener while the tea is still warm, allowing it to dissolve completely.
  4. Combine and Chill: Mix the fresh lemon juice and bruised mint leaves into the sweetened green tea. Then transfer the mixture to the refrigerator or add a generous amount of ice cubes to chill quickly.
  5. Serve Cold: Pour the iced lemon mint green tea into glasses filled with ice. Garnish with extra mint sprigs and lemon slices if desired, and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Use Filtered Water: Using clean, fresh water highlights pure tea flavors and avoids off-tastes.
  • Don’t Over-Steep: Brew green tea for 3 to 5 minutes to prevent bitterness.
  • Bruise Mint Lightly: Press mint gently to avoid overpowering the tea or releasing bitterness.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Add sweetener gradually; you can add more but cannot remove excess.
  • Chill Quickly: Add ice immediately after flavoring to keep tea fresh and prevent dilution.
  • Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Freezing: Freeze brewed tea (without lemon and mint) in ice cube trays to chill future servings without watering down flavor.
  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based sweeteners or omit sweetener for a fully vegan beverage.
