Ingredients

Scale

Protein

  • 1 lb chicken breasts or thighs, cut into pieces

Sauce & Base

  • 34 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 8 oz egg noodles (or rice noodles for gluten-free)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil

Optional Garnishes

  • 2 green onions, chopped or fresh parsley
  • Toasted sesame seeds or chopped peanuts

Optional Add-ins

  • 1 cup chopped vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, snap peas)
  • Red pepper flakes or sriracha for spice

Instructions

  1. Sear the Chicken: Heat oil in a large skillet or pot over medium heat. Add the seasoned chicken pieces and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown but not fully cooked through. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic: In the same pot, add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant and golden, about 30 seconds, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  3. Create the Sauce: Pour in honey, soy sauce, and chicken broth. Stir to combine and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer to develop the flavorful sauce.
  4. Add Noodles and Chicken: Place the egg noodles and seared chicken back into the pot. Push the chicken slightly beneath the noodles so it cooks evenly with the sauce.
  5. Simmer Until Tender: Cover the pot and let everything simmer together for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking and to help the noodles absorb the sauce while the chicken cooks through.
  6. Finish and Serve: Once the noodles are soft and the chicken is fully cooked, remove from heat. Garnish with chopped green onions, parsley, or optional toasted sesame seeds or peanuts. Serve hot and fresh.

Notes

  • Use fresh garlic for a more intense and fresh flavor compared to garlic powder.
  • Don’t skip searing the chicken to add depth of flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the amount of chicken broth for your preferred noodle tenderness; too little liquid can cause noodles to remain undercooked.
  • Stir gently during simmering to prevent noodles from breaking and keep the sauce silky.
  • Let the dish rest for a couple of minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld perfectly.
