Ingredients

Scale

Fruit

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for peaches)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Cobbler Batter

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Peaches: Peel, pit, and slice the peaches into bite-sized pieces. Toss them with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice in a bowl to enhance sweetness and prevent browning.
  2. Make the Cobbler Batter: In a separate bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add melted butter and milk, stirring just until the batter forms, avoiding overmixing to maintain tenderness.
  3. Assemble and Bake: Pour the peach mixture into a greased baking dish, then spoon the batter evenly over the top. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) until the crust is deep golden brown and the peach filling bubbles around the edges, approximately 40 to 45 minutes.
  4. Cool and Serve: Let the cobbler cool for at least 15 minutes to allow the juices to thicken, making it easier to serve without the filling running.

Notes

  • Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter; stir only until combined.
  • Use real unsalted butter for a richer crust.
  • Let the cobbler rest before slicing to prevent it from becoming soggy.
  • Adjust added sugar based on the sweetness of your peaches.
